Yakubu Mambo: AshGold were better than Hearts

The caretaker coach of the Miners is happy with the second round performance of his team

Yakubu Mambo, the caretaker coach of Ashanti Gold FC has indicated that his side were better than Hearts of Oak in their 1-1 draw.

Ashanti Gold held Accra Hearts of Oak to a one all draw on Wednesday at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in what happens to be the Miners 14th draw of the season.

Ashanti Gold, the league champions are struggling to replicate the form that propelled them to the league triumph last season. They have won 4, lost 4 and drawn fourteen in eighteen league games and are sitting at 11th position on the league ladder.

However, they have started picking up their pieces together in the second round, having won 2 and drawn 3 in 5 league games.

Yakubu Mambo believes, the Miners have started rediscovering their form, which was evident against Hearts of Oak and would be glad if they leapfrog into the top four zone,

“We were better than Accra Hearts of Oak, but it is unfortunate that we couldn’t win the game,” Yakubu Mambo.

“We are playing well in the second half and it is now our aim to finish in top-4.

Yakubu Mambo added that he is just the interim coach and Coach Bashir Hayford who is pursuing a coaching course will return to the team”.
