Top spot now doesn't guarantee wining the league - Hearts board member

Hearts of Oak board member says the Ghana Premier League is too early to judge.

After four games, the Phobinas have amassed 6 points, trailing their fiercest rivals Asante Kotoko who are joint top on the log with Aduana Stars by four points.

Due to Asante Kotoko’s stupendous form, bookmakers have tipped the Kumasi giants to run away with the domestic title for the first time in three years.

But the former National Chapters Committee (NCC) Chairman says the league is too young for a winner to be declared.

“We are playing a marathon league, if you have had the opportunity to be at the top it doesn’t mean you will be winning it,” Akanbi told Pulse.com.gh.

“The league is too young for that, definitely the winner will be declared after match day 30. Those at the top should be wary of the challenge they will having.”

Hearts of Oak this weekend will play as guests to Aduana Stars at the Dormaa Prak on match day five.
