Referee Emmanuel Ofei killed in road accident

Ghana football has been hit by a big blow, following the death of the Ghana Premier League referee.

Referee Ofei who officiated the Match day 19 game between Ashanti Gold and Inter Allies, was regarded as one of the association's promising referees who are selected the 2017 FIFA referees course.

The Ghana Football Association in a statement expressed has expressed its profound regret for the death of Referee Emmanuel Ofei.

“It was with profound regret that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) learnt of the tragic death of referee Emmanuel Ofei on Tuesday July 26.

“Meanwhile, the GFA has asked for one-minute silence to be observed in honor of the late Referee Ofei at all Premier League match venues in today's midweek games.

“Whiles we await full details of the incident, the thoughts and prayers of the entire GFA membership are with the bereaved family and loved ones at this sad time.

“The GFA and the entire Ghana football family will sorely miss him.May his gentle soul rest in peace,” the statement reads.
