Kotoko break seven-year jinx in Obuasi against AshGold

Asante Kotoko managed a 0-1 win against their regional rivals Ashanti Gold on Monday to earn first win in Obuasi since 2010

The clash between the Ashanti giants was rained off on Sunday at a time the game was one all: Yakubu Mohammed scored the opener amgainst his former side and Amos Addai gave AshGold the equaliser.

The game was rescheduled for Monday on the same pitch and Yakubu Mohammed was again the hero for the Porcupine Warriors, as his goal in the early stage of the second half gave Asante Kotoko all the three points after he connected home a pass from Emmanuel Gyamfi.

The first half was an end to end action, but it failed to produce a goal.

Asante Kotoko, however took control of the early in the early part of the second half and scored the only goal through Yakubu Mohammed.

Ashanti Gold after conceding woke up from their slumber by pinning the visitors to their own half, but Felix Annan came to their rescue on numerous occasion to deny the likes of Amos Addai, Hans Kwofie, Shafiu Mumuni from getting the equaliser they were looking for.

Asante Kotoko in the end got all the three points to become the second team to get an away win this season.

The last time Kotoko won in Obuasi in a league fixtures was in 2010.
