I don't have a fixed philosophy - Heats of Oak coach

Hearts of Oak coach Frank Nuttall won't stick to one philosophy in the Ghana Premier League this season.

The Scottish tactician was appointed coach of the club last week and in his first game for the club, they were held to a pulsating goalless home draw game by Medeama at the Accra Sports Stadium on match day two.

“I do not have a fixed philosophy,” he told the club’s website. “My main thought is ‘how do you win a football game?’. So it maybe that from game to game, we change our philosophy. We have got to have flexibility – that’s my main focus. How do you try to win a football game even during the game? How do you try to get at least three points? How can you get that goal?

“And so one minute you might be playing short, short passes and then you maybe go long. And sometimes when there’s the opportunity to play a long pass and create an opening to score a long goal; we go long. It does not matter when it scores a goal or whether it came off a long pass. I have flexibility in my approach. I do not have a fixed philosophy.

“I know how to play different systems; I know how to play different philosophies but my own philosophy is to have flexibility, try to instill that and try to win a football game. And I hope that the fans and the supporters see that we are trying something different and we are not fixed to one system.”

Nuttall’s side will play as guests Ebusua Dwarfs on Wednesday at the Cape Coast Stadium on match day three of the 2017 Ghana Premier League.
