Hearts of Oak record a slender 1-0 win over Dreams FC

Match report for the Ghana Premier League game between Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The home side needed Cosmos Dauda’s second half strike to pick the three maximum points at stake.

The Phobians started the game brightly as they neatly passed the ball around but they had it difficult in breaking the away side’s defence. The Kweiman based side began to warm themselves into the game by pinning the home side with long balls.

Dreams FC neutralized the Phobians midfield, forcing the Accra giants to defend deep, moment later, Hearts of Oak initiated a beautiful attack at the right flank but Owusu Bempah’s low cross was cleared by Ben Quansah.

Within two minutes, the Phobians had two clear chances to open the scoring – first was Cosmos Dauda who shot against the side net, and Patrick Razak who was thread through by Samudeen Ibrahim also shot wide.

Hearts of Oak were forced to make their first substitution. Leonard Tawiah came on for injured Sabbah Laryea. The former Premier League champions took control of the game, Razak tested Philimon Mccarthy from 25 yards.

In the 24 minute, the away side who were shot of ideas upfront effected their first substitution as Eric Gawu came on for Lawson Bekui, despite the change Dreams FC failed to come to the party as the Phobians dominated play.

Hearts of Oak effected another substitution – Fatau Mohammed came on for injured Kassenu Ghandi, moment later Razak nearly shot the Phobians into the lead but his low shot failed to beat Mccarthy.

Dreams FC late in the first half piled pressure on the Phobians – they created two decent chances but Prosper Donkor and Gawu couldn’t find the back of the net.

The open minutes in the second half was even as both sides had the fair share of possession but Dreams FC looked very dangerous whenever they have the ball. The Phobians defense were kept busy due to the swift play of C.K Akunnor’s side and in one occasion Aaron Amoah dribbled past three Hearts of Oak defenders but his final delivery let his team down

However, against the round of play, Hearts of Oak broke the deadlock in the 60 minute - Cosmos Dauda in a goal melee at Dreams FC penalty box blasted home to register his sixth goal in the ongoing campaign.

The away side after the goal threw a lot of bodies upfront but their attackers were kept at bay, with loss of concentration Hearts of Oak nearly punished Dreams FC but second half substitute Abeiku Ainooson prevented Dauda from getting his second goal on the day.

In the 75 minute Dreams FC were reduced to ten men after Richard Ocran received his yellow card, Dreams FC wereunperturbed despite their numerical disadvantage but  it was the Phobians who were ontop but they spurned they chances they created.

Chances were far and few as the Phobians held on to win the game.
