Hearts of Oak drew goalless with Medeama in Accra on matchday 2 of the Ghana Premier League

The Tarkwa giants fired the first warning at Hearts of Oak in the 4 minutes when Akwasi Donsu rattled the crossbar from 20 yards.

Four minutes later Medeama came close again but Joseph Tetteh Zuta fired wide after the Phobians failed to clear the ball from the danger zone following Akwasi Donsu’s corner kick.

The Phobians failed to contain the workaholic midfielders of Medeama as they conceded possession to the away side.

The pendulum swung to Hearts of Oak's favour as they started picking up their pieces by dictating the pace of the tie.

Hearts of Oak had their best moment in the 23rd minute when Isaac Mensah set up Malik Akowuah on the edge of Medeama’s penalty box –but the latter shot wide.

The former Premier League champions had another opportunity when Patrick Razak raced into Medeama’s goal area but he failed to put the ball at the back of the net.

It was back and forth in the first ten minutes in the second half but Medeama were the better side as they put a lot of bodies upfront.

Second half substitute Edmund Peprah could have broken the deadlock in the 59 minute but he missed the post by inches with a brilliant curler.

The Tarkwa giants intensified the pressure on the home side – the Phobians failed to come to terms with play of the two-time FA Cup champions.

With 15 minutes left on the clock, Hearts of Oak created their first chance in the first half but Agbeshie Dotse after out jumping everybody headed wide Patrick Razak’s corner kick.

The tempo of the game reduced drastically as both sides looked tired, but despite that Medeama were the dangerous side on the field.

Chances were far and few in the closing stages of the game, and with four minutes of time added on both sides failed to break the virginity of the game.

The result means that the Phobians are yet to win a game after picking two points in two games while Medeama have picked four points in two games.
