The “Stars of the East” on the final day of the Division One League on Sunday beat Tamale Utrecht 2-0 in Tamale to become the third club to secure Premier League qualification after Elmina Sharks and Great Olympics.

The Bolgatanga based club thus became the first club in the Upper East region to seal a qualification into the country’s elite division after beating off competition from Mighty Royals.

“It is true, it has been the dream since I became the owner of the club and the aim was to get the team to the Premiership and it happened last Sunday, I was very excited,” Zida who doubles as Upper East Regional FA chairman told Pulse.com.gh.

The owner of the club also thanked the people in the region for their unflinching support.

“After we sealed our qualification, I nearly lost control of myself. Our qualification became reality due to the overwhelming support we had from the people in the region because from day one they stood behind the team. Even when things were not going well they were there to support the team. The supporters comported themselves we didn’t had any bad incidents at the stadia and on Sunday at Tamale they came in their numbers and supported the team to victory,” he added.
