Kwesi Nyantakyi hits out at ex-Black Stars assistant coach

Kwesi Nyantakyi has hit back at Gerard Nus for criticising the Ghana Football Association over the delay in the payment of his allowances after Ghanas participation in the 2017 Africa Cup

Gerard Nus who was one of the technical brains on Avram Grant's backroom staff during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations is still in Ghana waiting for the Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to pay him for the role he played in Ghana's participation in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Reports indicated Nus lodged a complaint with the Spanish Embassy about the treatment meted out to him after he rendered his service to Ghana. The former Black Stars technical team member also granted interviews, pouring out his frustration.

Kwesi Nyantakyi, however has hit back at the Spaniard that the entire technical team including him are yet to be paid, so he is surprised at the behaviour of the former assistant coach of the Black Stars.

''Admittedly there’s a delay but there’s no denial of indebtedness. Owing someone is no crime, no shame,'' Nyantakyi told Inside Africa Football (IAF).

“Since AFCON, efforts continue to be made to pay technical staff of the Black Stars. The indebtedness to Gerald is not peculiar to him but the entire technical team.

''In Ghana the ministry of youth and sports has responsibility to make these payments. I gather from my personal endeavours that the debt will be redeemed.

“Avram Grant understood that he would be paid when the money is ready so he left. There’s no way the bonuses owed won’t be paid. I cannot commit to a date because that’s outside the control of the GFA.

“He’s generally hysterical. He started this attitude in Gabon. One day he threatened not to go for training with the team if his contract status wasn’t clarified.”

Reports also indicate that the coach is still based in Accra staying in a hotel with the bill paid by Nyantakyi's GFA.
