Video analyst of the Black Stars of Ghana Gerrard Nus made his coaching on Sunday after guiding his new team, Rayo OKC to a 1-1 draw with New York Cosmos in the North American Soccer League.
“Our ownership group introduced a new vision for the club this week, and it was presented to Alen and his staff,” said Raúl Martín Presa, chairman of Rayo Vallecano de Madrid.
“In the end, Alen decided that it was best to move in a different direction, and we respect his decision and wish him well moving forward. On the other hand, we’re thrilled to welcome a coach of Gerard’s caliber to the club and we’re looking forward to seeing the team flourish under his guidance and expertise.”
Nus joins Rayo OKC from Spanish side Rayo Vallecano, which owns a majority stake in the Oklahoma-based club. In addition to serving as the Assistant Technical Director for Rayo Vallecano, Nus is currently a member of the Ghana Men’s National Team staff under veteran manager Avram Grant.
“Gerard brings with him a wealth of experience to Oklahoma City, having worked with well-known clubs in a number of countries,” Presa said.
“Through the knowledge gained from his coaching stints all over the world, we believe he is the right person to lead Rayo OKC moving forward.”
