The first half of the game couldn’t produce any goal, as both sides failed to create clear goal scoring chances.

In the second half the Porcupine Warriors started the game strongly and Obed Owusu should have broke the deadlock of the game after Dauda Mohammed robbed goalkeeper Ben Mensah and placed the ball on his path, yet he missed the chance.

However, it was Hearts of Oak who went ahead, after Felix Annan brought down Patrick Razak and Vincent Atinga scored from the resultant penalty kick in the  55th minute.

Asante Kotoko, following the goal by Hearts of Oak exerted their control on the game: Isaac Quansah could have scored for Kotoko, but Ben Mensah blocked his ball ball.

The Porcupine Warriors had to wait until Obed Owusu kicked a ball onto the waiting hands of a defender and referee Prosper Addy awarded a penalty to Kotoko in the 66th minute. Amos Frimpong scored to put them level.
