Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan is in joyous mood after being conferred with a honourary doctorate degree.

A ceremony held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology saw the 31-year-old being acknowledged by the Ukrainian university for his contributions towards Ghana football.

The former Sunderland striker could not hide his joy after being honoured and took to twitter to express his mood.

He first tweeted that he was “now Dr. Asamoah Gyan”, before adding that “glory be to God”.

In a separate tweet, though, the Black Stars captain reveled in his latest achievement by requesting to be called ‘his honour Dr. Asamoah Gyan’.

“By the Grace of God I was awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree... with all humility, respectfully call me His Honour Dr. Asamoah Gyan,” he tweeted.

Gyan is Ghana’s all-time top scorer, having scored 51 goals and has had a hand in a number of humanitarian projects, including the $250,000 Astro Turf pitch being constructed at his alma mater, Accra Academy Senior High School.
