GLICO Group supports the Black Stars for AFCON 2017

Nana Efua expressed gratitude on behalf of management and staff of GLICO to the GFA Executive Committee for their warm reception in acknowledging and appreciating GLICO’s support every time.

GLICO GROUP, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, has once again presented a sponsorship package to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to support the Black Stars prepare towards the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2017 qualifying matches.

This gesture is to promote football, unity and nationalism in Ghana and to motivate the Stars play their hearts out in the last two matches against Mauritius and Rwanda.

Presenting the cheque to the Association, Nana Efua Rockson, Group Head, Corporate Affairs & Marketing (GLICO GROUP) said that, “the donation formed part of GLICO’s commitment to Ghana’s football enhancement and this obligation has been demonstrated over the years through supporting the National Teams”.

She further stated that GLICO promised the team during AFCON 2015 that in two year’s time GLICO would be back to spur them on and this support comes to redeem their promise even as they prepare for AFCON 2017.

The sponsorship package comprises Insurance Cover worth Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH 500,000.00) for the team and Management personnel and a cash donation of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 20, 000.00) to assist the team prepare towards the tournament.

As further motivation for the Black Stars, GLICO GROUP, as announced by Nana Efua Rockson, is pledging to pay the team Seven Thousand Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHC 7,500.00) should they win the match against Mauritius and another Seven Thousand Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHC 7,500.00) when they win the match against Rwanda.

Last but not the least, GLICO also promised the Team another winning bonus of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (10, 000.00) when they qualify for the AFCON 2017 Tournament.

In his acceptance address, Mr. Isaac Addo, General Secretary of GFA thanked GLICO for their kind gesture and unwavering support shown to the National Teams over the years.  He promised to ensure that during his tenure, he would ensure that the relationship between GFA and GLICO will be legalized and made stronger for the benefit of Ghanaian football.

Accordingly, Mr. Saanie Daara, the Communications Director for GFA and Mr. Delali Senaya, also part of the Executive committee of GFA, commended GLICO for their unwavering support towards the promotion of football in the Ghana. They promised that the Team would play their hearts out to ensure the Black Stars qualify for AFCON 2017.
