Nii Lante’s tenure as Youth and Sports Minister was characterized by fiction between his ministry and the hierarchy of the GFA.

The bad blood between both parties escalated even more due to disagreements over player bonuses and budgets of the Black Stars.

Nii Lante later claimed that he had video evidence to show that members of the Association “popped champagne and played music” after his party lost in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The former Sports Minister’s claims have now been quashed by an Executive Committee member of the GFA, Nii Komietey Doku.

According to Mr. Doku, Nii Lante’s claims were fabricated and dared the former Sports Minister to produce evidence to back his claims.

“It is not true that we popped champagne after the NDC lost. He said he had video evidence, then let him go and play it on GTV so that the whole country will see it,” he told Class FM.

“Practically there are more NDC people in the GFA than NPP and in the GFA we don’t play politics.

“We are called the rainbow party because it’s a mixture of all the parties in the country here, we don’t play politics. If the NDC lost, they lost because of why they should lose, but I don’t want to go into that.”
