Black Stars job not bigger than me – David Duncan

The experienced coach says he has the charisma to deal with the egos of Black Stars players.

Duncan is one of the most experienced heads on the local scene, having managed top sides including Ashanti Gold, Hearts of Oak and Kotoko.

And the tough-talking tactician believes “local coaches can do the job” if given the opportunity.

The issue about who becomes the next Black Stars coach has divided opinion, with some quarters calling for a local coach to be hired while others disagree.

Duncan has also waded in the debate, suggesting that the job will not be bigger than him if he was ever appointed as Black Stars coach.

In an interview with Happy FM, Duncan said: “I believe the people running our football are not foreigners, therefore it's time to think towards the same direction that local coaches can do the [Black Stars] job.

"There's no player currently in the Black Stars that when I started coaching in 2002 was playing in abroad. The players in the team are not above me to handle because most of them passed through me in their formative years."

David Duncan is currently without a club after parting ways with Kotoko last season, however, his latest utterances could suggest he is planning of a grand return to coaching, with an eye on the Black Stars job.
