AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca claims talks over a close-season move to Paris Saint-Germain broke down because the Ligue 1 champions had no further space for non-EU players in their squad.

Colombia international Bacca was much sought after in the transfer window after he plundered 18 Serie A goals during his maiden season at San Siro, with West Ham among those heavily linked with a move.

Bacca says that PSG were also interested in his services, which would have seen a reunion with head coach Unai Emery who he worked under at Sevilla, but a deal could not be completed due to restrictions on non-EU players.

The 30-year-old expressed a desire to work with Emery again in the future, but says his focus for now remains on Milan.

"Emery is the most important manager I've had during my career. The best one too," he told Cadena Ser.

"He has improved my performances, I always felt at ease with him, because he always trusted me.

"He's also a good friend of mine, maybe this is the secret of such an excellent relationship.

"I'd like to work with him again in the future. But I am only focused on AC Milan at the moment.

"PSG made a great choice appointing him. They also tried to sign me. There were contacts with my agents, but the deal collapsed as they had no slots available for non-EU players."

Bacca has scored three goals in as many Serie A games this season, but Milan have taken just three points from a possible nine.
