Samuel Sukah was the centre-man when Hearts of Oak took on Asante Kotoko in the Super Clash last Sunday.

However, the referee came under the spotlight after awarding a penalty to Hearts of Oak, to the disdain of many Kotoko fans.

With the game between the two rivals deadlocked, and with just seven minutes left on the clock, Samuel Sukah awarded a penalty to the home side after he adjudged Samuel Yeboah’s shot to have hit Ahmed Adams’ arm.

The referee has subsequently come in for criticisms from fans and officials of Kotoko, with the club’s official website describing the penalty as “dubious”.

Though Samuel Sukah insists he “made the right call”, he is now set to appear before the Referees’ Review Panel to defend his decision.

It is currently unclear whether the Review Panel summoning the referee to query him, or just to have him present his report on the match.
