Having endured a poor start to the season with three consecutive draws, Hearts finally recorded their first win of the season against champions Wa All Stars last Sunday.
The result has lifted the side to 3rd place- just four points shy of table-topping duo Kotoko and Aduana Stars.
And Akowuah believes Hearts of Oak is on course to end their nine-year trophy drought.
The former Medeama midfielder told Ghana Sports: “It was a big boost for us to win the game, WA All Stars were strong on the day and they played very well.
“But we were determined. This win has boosted our confidence and I can say our target to win the league title is still on course.

“We will now approach our next game with much seriousness and also go in for a win in every game we play. That is the only way we can win the title.”
Hearts of Oak will face fellow title contenders Aduana Stars on Sunday in Dormaa, with the clash billed to be the weekend’s top liner.
