According to Sarpong, Addo confided in him, before passing away, that the aforementioned clubs still owed him some monies for his services rendered to them.

Herbert Addo passed away last Friday after battling with illness for some months. And the tributes have come in thick and fast for the legendary gaffer for his exploits on the local scene.

However, J.E Sarpong believes much could have been done for Herbert Addo when he was alive, while disclosing that several clubs, notably Hearts of Oak and Inter Allies, still had unfinished business with the legendary coach.

“He [Herbert Addo] told me some months back that they [Hearts of Oak] owed him, and Inter Allies also owed him. Yes he said, I think, ₵70,000 or something,” Sarpong told Class FM.

“He said they paid him part, and then it was left with I think ₵50,000 or ₵70,000. And then he said he was even going to instruct his lawyers to write to them to collect the money for him. ….They owed him [a lot of] cedis.”

Hebert Addo won five league titles across spells with Hearts of Oak, Kotoko, Ashanti Gold and Aduana Stars, while he is the only coach to have gone an entire league season without tasting defeat.
