The day Zinedine Zidane upset Cristiano Ronaldo

The Portuguese forward was furious when he found out what the Frenchman did

Real Madrid's new coach Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo had their better and worse days in the Carlo Ancelotti era at Real Madrid.

The Portuguese forward was furious when he found out that Zidane, who as Ancelotti's assistant, defended Franck Ribery's candidacy for the 2013 Ballon d'Or in an interview with RCM on French TV.

Ronaldo reacted with anger and disbelief because he thought the club were doing everything they could to help him win the prestigeous trophy presented by FIFA and France Football.

Zidane's words were viewed as treason by Ronaldo. One of the terms of his contract negotiations with Florentino Perez, which were long and hard, was that the club would give him unequivocal support in his campaign for the trophy.

The Portuguese also felt slighted when nobody of any significant weight at the club accompanied him to the ceremony, when Leo Messi had a large Barcelona delegation and the president, of the time, Sandro Rosell.

Cristiano wanted the club's entire armoury to dethrone Messi and was stunned that the first person to disappoint him within the club was someone so close to president Perez.

We will have to see how the pair get on in the coming weeks.
