Here are the 10 strongest players in the history of Ghana football.

However, there are a few players that have thrived on the physical simply overshadowing skill entirely because football is a physical game and has been that way from years ago.

They are usually heavy set, barrel-chested players with extraordinary vigour, unusual verve, muscular potency and incredible body balance. These are players who took the ability of being able to overpower their opponents to a whole new level.

Skill and strength may not exactly go hand-in-hand, but there are days where ‘The Monstrous’ turn out to be the true option to intimidating and overwhelming opponents of all other capacities.

Now with Italian club Pescara, the former left-back later developed into a powerful, hard-working, and aggressive midfielder primarily known for his physical strength and combative playing style.

The 20-year old former Accra Hearts of Oak talent now with Ebusua Dwarfs is a powerful striker, well-built, has pace and is very physically imposing. A dominant player in the air who knows when to lift off and beat his opponent.

Acquah usually plays as a defensive midfielder in front of the defence, due to his pace, physicality, stamina and abilities as a ball-winner

The towering defender is handy in the air, makes timely tackles and has good ball clearance.

6. Isaac Vorsah

This commanding defender was what is considered an “old-fashioned” centre-back who primarily served as a ball winner. Not particularly elegant or skillful from a technical point of view, but he was a hard tackler and had strong aerial duels and concentration.

5. Sam Johnson Foyoo

The Ghana Black Stars player was a proficient all-rounder, in defence, midfield and also in attack. Johnson played for Fenerbahçe SK in Turkey, Anderlecht in Belgium amongst other teams.

4. Ahmed Apomah Barusso

A combative and hard-working , strong player, who mainly served as a defensive foil for his more offensive team-mates although he was capable of getting forward and playing in more advanced position.

3. Junior Agogo

Agogo played on the Ghana between 2006 and 2009. Known for his physical strength and heavy build, Agogo scored a total of 143 goals during his professional football career. After retiring, he opened his own small group and personal fitness training business.

A tall and strong defender, positional sense and good anticipation are not exactly his forte, but he is arguably Ghana’s best-ever solid tackler, with an ability to read the game and mark opponents, he also excels in the air.

1. J. K Mensah

J.K Mensah was a husky and herculean striker who made his name in the 1970s as a regular for his club Sekondi Eleven Wise. The imposing Mensah, arguably one of the well-built strikers Ghana has ever seen, also featured for the Black Stars.
