Football, widely regarded as the most followed sport in the world is a game tricky enough to make grown men and sometimes nations cry.
Expectations of several millions of people rest on the shoulders of 11 players. When these expectations are not met, there are instances where the heartbreak is too painful that it triggers tears.
And then there are the players who shed tears for whatever bizarre reasons occasionally or absolutely no reason. A player breaking down in tears is always an iconic moment.
Here are 10 moments where players could not help themselves but shed tears:
David Luis after Brazil 7-1 loss to Germany, 8 July
2014 at the Estádio
John Terry, Manchester United Chelsea 21 May
Stadium in Moscow, Russia.
Luis Suarez crying after draw at Crystal Palace 2013/14 Premier League season.
Neymar at the 2014 World Cup vs Mexico.
Bastien Schweinsteiger Germany’s star cries tears of joy after winning World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

On 2nd July, 2010, the Ghana Black Stars missed a golden opportunity to make history in the 2010 World Cup. Africa’s
horns fell silent on that fateful Friday night as Ghana were cruelly ‘robbed’
of a place in the semi-finals by the ‘evil’ hand of Luis Suarez.
