Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid - December 2004

About 70,000 football fans were forced to evacuate Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu stadium in December 2004 when the police stopped a league game because of a bomb threat purporting to come from the Basque separatist group Eta.

David Beckham, Michael Owen, and Real Madrid's other players were called off the pitch three minutes before the end of the match against Real Sociedad, from the Basque city of San Sabastián, and rushed out of the stadium as loudspeakers told fans to leave immediately.

The game was replayed on January 5, with Zidane giving Real Madrid the much-needed win from the spot kick.

The original fixture on December 12 was postponed due to a bomb scare at the Bernabeu with just over six minutes still to play - two minutes and 40 seconds of normal time and four minutes of injury time.
