Wales beat Belgium 3-1 to reach historic semi-finals

Wales edge out the favourites Belgium from the Euro 2016

Wales handed Belgium a shocking 3-1 defeat at the quarter finals of the 2016 UEFA European Championship to match on to the last four for the very first time in their football history in a major competition.

Radja Nainggolan’s 13th minute goal from long range for Belgium was cancelled by Ashley Williams with a powerful headers when he stepped up as the skipper of his side to get them back into the game in the 30th minute, before Robson-Kanu's sublime goal in the 55th minute put Wales into the lead for the first time in the game and substitute Vokes sealed the doom of Belgium in the 85th minute.

Wales outplayed Belgium in the first half, with Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Robson-Kanu creating much problems for the jittery Belgium defence who were missing the services of Jan Vertonghen and Thomas Vermaelen.

Back from recess,Belgium came into the game and threw more men up front, but the Wales defence men managed to foil all the attacking threats from their opponent. Ashley Williams combined effectively with Ben Davies at the centre-back position.

Wales got the second goal at a time Belgium were slightly dominating play. Aaron Ramsey gave Robson-Kanu a through ball and he nicely beat three Belgium players  before beating Thibaut Courtois in post.

And just as Belgium were trying harder to get the equaliser, Wales caught them off-guard and put the game beyond their reach, as Vokes, who cam on to replace Robson-Kanu scored the third goal in the late minute.

Eden Hazard, who produced one of the best performances by an individual in the game against Hungary, couldn't repeat that feat against Wales, as the highest ranked European side on the FIFA ranking were crashed out of the tournament in the last 8.

Wales will face Portugal in the semi-finals of the UEFA EURO 2016 tournament happening in France.

The British will enter into the game without two key players who will be serving suspension: Aaron Ramsey and Ben Davies.
