Ebenezer Assifuah has revealed he had the chance to join his compatriot and Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan at Al-Ahli over the winter.

The Ghana international was the subject of a number of bids from the United Arab Emirates' club in January.

Al-Ahly tried three proposals to lure the ex-FC Sion goal poacher with the biggest thought to be worth £10m.

However, the 23-year-old striker decided to sign for French side Le Havre on a three-and-half-year deal that will see him at the club until June 2020.

"I had the chance to join UAE club Al-Ahli but i rejected the offer because i am too young and didn't want to leave Europe now," Assifuah said during his unveiling at the French club.

Assifuah emerged top scorer at the 2013 FIFA U20 World finals in Turkey and was snapped up by FC Sion.

He made 88 league appearances and scored 15 goals including winning the Swiss Cup in 2015.
