Carlo Ancelotti names his son as assistant manager at Bayern Munich

The Italian took over as manager from Pep Guardiola, who left for Manchester City during the summer after three seasons in charge, and has inherited a very potent squad from the Spaniard.

New Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has named a new assistant manager at his club as he looks to keep the Bundesliga giants on top of things in Germany.

According to the Bayern website, Ancelotti has hired his own son Davide as as co-trainer, and the pair will form the first-ever father-son coaching duo in the Bundesliga.

Davide, 27, failed to break into the AC Milan squad, having served as a youth player at the Serie Aclub. However, he has enjoyed success in his Sport Science studies, which also led to him being hired as a fitness coach by his dad at Real Madrid.

He got on quite well with stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos whilst at Madrid. It was thought that he would take up a similar role at Bayern, but following eight months of learning German, the legendary coach's son has seen his status upgraded to assistant coach.

Speaking to the media on his new role at Bayern, Davide said: "I support our coaches both in training and in prematch preparations. On the training pitch, I explain exercises or just help out with the language. My father speaks German well but doesn't understand everything yet.

"I like the language -- it's difficult but I find it very interesting."

Davide is already barking out orders in German on the training ground, and is said to know his way around his new home, having already added the phrase "one beer please" to his vernacular.
