Chicago Fire doctors comfortable about striker’s improvement

David Accam is working hard to return to full fitness as Chicago Fire doctors are happy with his progress from the knee sprain injury

The Chicago Fire striker has not played for the MLS club since March 11 and is unlikely to feature in his team’s home game against D.C. United at the Toyata Park on Saturday.

Manager Veljko Paunovic speaking on David Accam’s knee sprain said there was good news and that the doctors were happy with the progress of the Black Stars player.

Paunovic said:

"The good news is that he’s [David Accam] progressing with his recovery, he’s feeling less pain and it’s very [localized] which is good news.

"Talking to our doctors, they feel very comfortable with how he’s improving and we’ll see if, I don’t know for this game but in the next couple weeks if David can be back to our team and work normally as all the rest of the players."

David Accam trained separately from his Chicago Fire teammates on Monday and his manager Paunovic had this to say about him.

“What I can see is of course that he wants to be back as soon as possible and he’s working hard with our medical team for that,” continued Veljko Paunovic.

"He’s also a very smart and very mature guy and he understands that he has to do his treatment, keep his emotions under control and not get frustrated."

David Accam has been sensational for the MLS club earning transfer interesting in the English League Premier.
