2017 AFCON Player of the tournament joins Chinese side

Most Valuable Player for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Christian Bassagog is reported to have joined Chinese Super League (CSL) side Henan Jianye for what his club, Danish side AaB Aalborg, describe as a “record fee.”

The Cameroonian youngster inspired the Indomitable Lions to a 5th AFCON title and consequently won the best player of the tournament.

His performance in the 2017 AFCON caught the eyes of several clubs in Europe, but he has chosen to add up to the list of stars like Oscar, Tevez, Ramerez, Paulino, who plying their trade in the less fancied Chinese Super League

“Since the first day I've got a great treatment for all people both inside and outside the club, and I really felt welcome in Aalborg,” Bassogog told AaB’s official website.

“Now I've got an offer I cannot refuse, and I look forward to new and exciting experiences in China.”

Henan Jianye narrowly escaped relegation from the CSL in 2016, finishing three points off the drop zone.

The new season is set to start on 3rd March.
