Medeama seek first win in group stage

The Tarkwa lads are determined to secure all the three points in the CAF Confederation Cup group game, as they face Young Africans of Tanzania.

Medeama’s league game against Wa All Stars on Sunday was declared an outstanding game to enable them have enough rest for the encounter against Young Africans.

Kwesi Donsu, has been in a consistent goal scoring form in recent times, having bagged 9 league goals and is expected to replicate that form in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.

Coach Prince Owusu, might retain Daniel Adjei in post, after excelling in the first leg in Tanzania when he handed him a starting place ahead of the team’s captain Muntari Tagoe, whose errors let in some goals against Medeama in their African campaign.

Abass Mohammed, who led the attacking force of Medeama could have earned a late winner for his side in Tanzania two weeks ago, but wasted the opportunity.

In the first leg in Tanzania, Medeama were scared by an early goal. However, they survived it with the equaliser to share the spoils with YANGA.

Donald Ngoma was the goal scorer for Young Africans of Tanzania, while Bernard Ofori ensured the Yellow and Mauves gave a response in the 19 minute to bring the Ghana FA Cup defending champions into the game.

YANGA have got a point from three games in the CAF Confederation Cup, having lost two and drawn one.

Medeama are also seeking to get their first win in the CAF Confederation Cup, having drawn two and lost 1 in three games

The Tarkwa lads, are undefeated in 5 games in all competitions, (W2, D3), whereas, Young Africans are winless in their past 5 games in all competitions, (L3, D2).

Young Africans of Tanzania will be making their first trip to Ghana for a CAF organised competition, since 1970 against Kotoko.

Young Africans are coached by a man who knows Ghana so well, Hans Van der Pluijm, a former coach of Medeama, Berekum Chelsea, Kpando Heart of Lions and Ashgold.
