Referee Agbovie: Delay of the league will affect our performance

The FIFA referee has stated that the delay of the topflight league in Ghana will affect their performance when they get the opportunity to officiate in CAF competitions.

Referee William Agbovi has indicated that the delay in the start of the Ghana Premier League will have a negative effect on their performance in the CAF Inter Club competitions.

The Ghana Premier League is engulfed with numerous litigations that threaten the commencement of the 2015-16 season.

The height of the litigation is the case between Tema Youth and Dreams FC which has been sent to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) for redress.

And the FIFA referee who stands the chance to be selected to officiate in CAF Inter Club Competitions has stated that the delay which is denying them of games to of make them rusty when they get the opportunity to officiate in Africa.

“The judicial bodies of the GFA should be blamed for the delay in the league, because when the league started they were quick to rule on cases, but they began to delay the outcome of cases at the latter of the season and that is why there several cases pendinmg.

“As referees the delay will have a negative impact on our performance when we get selected to officiate in CAF Competition which are just at the corner,” William Agbovie told Hot FM.
