Kwesi Appiah appointed as new Black Stars coach

The Ghana Football Association has appointed James Kwesi Appiah as coach of the senior national male football team of Ghana

James Kwesi Appiah has been named as the new Black Stars coach by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

"The decision was taken by the Executive Committee of the GFA on Tuesday after approving the report of the six-man coaching search committee.

"Appiah will be handed a two-year contract and will start his duties on 1st May, 2017.

"He will also take full charge of the Local Black Stars,"  a statement released by the GFA reads.

This is going to be the former Black Stars skipper's return to the team as coach-he headed the technical team of the Black Stars from 2012 to 2014.

During the two year period, he qualified Ghana for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, becoming the first indigene to do so, but he was sacked after Ghana's poor display in the Mundial amidst player boycott of training over the delay in the payment of appearance fees.
