MCLEOD SHINES

The Jamaican went into the 110m hurdles final as the gold medal favourite, and he did not let his nation down. McLeod recovered from an average start, running an almost-perfect race to claim Jamaica's first ever Olympic gold medal in the event, joining Usain Bolt and Elaine Thompson on the honours list in Rio.

MEDAL WATCH

Conceicao secured Brazil's third gold of the tournament, and 11th medal in total, while Mutaz Essa Barshim won Qatar's first ever silver at an Olympic Games, having only claimed four bronze previously. United States still lead the way, adding another two gold and nine medals in total on day 11.

COMING UP

Several medals are up for grabs at the Olympic Stadium, including the women's 200 metre sprint and 110m hurdles. American Aston Eaton is also looking to become only the third man to successfully defend the decathlon title, while the women's golf tournament begins earlier in the day.

AND FINALLY...

Haitian Jeffrey Julmis may have finished last by some distance in the semi-finals of the men's 110m hurdles, but he did so in true Olympic spirit.

Julmis let the occasion get to him and tumbled over the first hurdle, but the 29-year-old did not let it get him down.

He went on to finish the rest of the race and was warmly applauded by the spectators in the stadium. However, his exploits did not go unnoticed around the globe. Ouch.
