Namibian boxer Jonas Junias has been arrested on suspicion of committing sexual assault at the Rio 2016 athletes village.

Junias - who served as his country's flag bearer at the opening ceremony - is the second boxer to be detained for such a crime.

He had been due to begin his campaign in the light welterweight category against Hasan Amzile on Thursday, but could face a jail sentence. Morocco's Hassan Saada was given a 15-day sentence after being accused of trying to assault two maids.

A Rio police statement provided to Omnisport read: "Jonas Junias, boxing athlete member of the Olympic delegation of Namibia, was arrested for rape.
