Kwesi Appiah has invited some bench warmers: Mubarak Wakaso

The Black Stars central midfielder has hit out at James Kwesi Appiah for leaving him out of his provisional 30-man squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Mubarak Wakaso believes he deserve a place in Kwesi Appiah’s 30-man squad for the 2019 Africa Nations Cup qualify than some of the players who were invited into the team.

The 26-year-old was handed his Black Stars debut in late 2012 by Kwesi Appiah in his first spell as the coach of the team.

Appiah however, excluded Wakaso from the Black Stars in his first invitation of players into the team on his return as coach.

And Wakaso says he was better last season than a host of players invited into the Black Stars by Kwesi Appiah, because they were bench warmers

“He has invited some players who are warming the bench in their team, but I have been enjoying consistent football at my club, yet I couldn’t get a call-up into the team,” Mubarak Wakaso told Silver FM in Kumasi.

“I understand he has called some players on why they were not invited into the team, but I haven't received any phone call from Kwesi Appiah,”

“When I saw the list I wasn’t worried, because everybody has his own destiny. After all it was Kwesi Appiah who gave me my debut Black Stars call.”

Mubarak Wakaso joined Granada in the second half of the season on loan from Panathinaikos, but he couldn’t help the team to avoid relegation.
