Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah says Asamoah Gyan will continue to serve as the captain of the senior national football team of Ghana with Andre Ayew remaining as the deputy skipper of the team.
Reports have been making rounds that there is a bad blood between Gyan and Ayew over captaincy position and there are plans to make a shake-up that would go in favour of the West United attacker due lack of consistency on the part of the Al Ahly striker.
However, Kwesi Appiah during his unveiling as head coach of the Black Stars has made it clear that he will make no changes in the captaincy position of his team and has therefore called on fans to back the skipper and and his assistants.
"Nothing has changed. Asamoah Gyan remains captain and Andre Ayew is his assistant. Let's support them." he said at his unveiling in Accra on Tuesday.
Asamoah Gyan was named the Black Stars skipper in 2013 during James Kwesi Appiah's first stint with the team.
