GFA member reveals ex-Sports Minister was behind Kwesi Appiah's sack

Kofi Manu says Vincent Oppong Asamoah, a former deputy Minister of Youth and Sports masterminded the sack of Kwesi Appiah as Black Stars coach.

The former Black skipper became the first indigene to qualify the Black Stars for the FIFA World Cup in 2014.

He was however, sacked after the Black Stars failed to progress from the group stage in the Mundial amidst player boycott over the delay in the payment of appearance fees.

And Kofi Manu says the deputy Sports Minister at the time was the one behind Appiah's dismissal.

''Did you know that, our own Dormaa West MP contributed to the sacking of Kwesi Appiah? It’s time the truth be told,'' he told Sunyani based Space FM.

''The former government told the GFA president to sack Kwesi Appiah so that they [the government]will stop intruding into the affairs of the GFA but even after the exit of the former coach [Kwesi Appiah], the government did not give up on the GFA.''
