Besiktas beat AEK Athens in Basketball Champions League

Earl Clark starred as Besiktas maintained their perfect start to the Basketball Champions League by ending AEK Athens' unbeaten record with an 88-78 victory on the road.

Forward Clark came up with 24 points and took eight rebounds, while DJ Strawberry claimed 14 points in a fruitful evening for the Turkish outfit.

Besiktas are top of Group E after winning three out of three and have now reeled off his consecutive victories in all competitions, while AEK are second following their first loss in the new tournament.

"We did a great job in what was our fourth game in only 10 days and despite battling some injuries," said Besiktas head coach Ufuk Sarica.

"It's not easy to win here, it was the most difficult away game so far for us but we played very aggressively and very smart."

Tenerife march on in Group D, leading the way along with Sidigas Avellino, who edged out Cibona 84-83, after an emphatic 93-71 success at Juventus.

Carl English starred off the bench for the Canary Island outfit, recording a game-high tally 18 points, and Javier Beiran helped himself to 13 in an impressive all-round display.

Strasbourg got up and running in Group D and their first win in the competition was worth the wait as they rallied from 19 points down to beat Oostende Telenet 74-64.

Kevin Dillard set a Champions League record in Group B, conjuring up 12 assists for Pinar Karsiyaka in an 84-75 triumph over Maccabi Rand Media Rishon.

There were also victories for Partizan, AS Monaco, CSM Oradea and PAOK Saloniki on Tuesday.
