AEK Athens and Neptunas Klaipeda maintained their 100 per cent starts to the Basketball Champions League with resounding victories over Proximus Spirou and Openjobmetis Varese respectively.

Neptunas, whose coach Dainius Adomaitis was appointed the new boss of the Lithuanian national team on Wednesday, followed up their slender opening triumph over Muratbey Usak Sportif with a 94-60 pummelling of the Italian side.

A strong period in the second quarter enabled Neptunas to open up a 21-point advantage, and from there the visitors had no chance of mounting a recovery.

AEK trailed by three points at the end of the first quarter in their meeting with Spirou, but Roko Ukic led a comeback by top-scoring with 18 points in a comfortable 80-58 win away in Charleroi.

Le Mans Sarthe also improved to 2-0 by beating Khimik 68-49, the same scoreline by which they won their opening game against Umana Reyer Venezia, and Maccabi Rand Media also triumphed 69-56 against CSM CSU Oradea.

Rosa Radom required three overtime periods to see off PAOK last time out but proved no match for Ventspils in their second match, going down 74-53.

PAOK recovered with a 59-52 win over Usak and Venezia got off the mark by beating Pinar Karsiyaka – Muhammed Baygul scoring 22 points for the losers – but Cibona's search for a first win continues following defeat to Mega Leks.

The only other match saw ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne build on a victory over Antibes Sharks in the LNB Pro A on Saturday with an 81-79 victory over EWE Baskets.
