Ashgold coach hints at retirement at the end of the season

Bashiru Hayford is not happy with poor officiating which has triggered his retirement at the end of the season

Ashanti Gold head trainer Bashiru Hayford has hinted that he will retire from coaching at the end of the 2015/16 league season.

According to the former Asante Kotoko gaffer, his decision to call it a quit was fueled by his side’s 1-0 painful Super Cup loss to Medeama last Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, a game he believes his side were not treated fairly by the referee.

On Sunday, Ashanti Gold had a goal disallowed in the 85 minute after Frederick Quayeson pounced on a rebound. Medeama broke the deadlock two minutes later through Bernard Ofori, a goal the Miners deemed to be offside.

However, Hayford who couldn’t get over his side’s loss has hinted that he will be calling it quit at the of the 2015/16 league season due to poor officiating.

“It is very disheartening to see a perfect goal disallowed by a referee while the opponent was awarded with the same goal”

“For me, the kind of things going on in the country regarding officiating, God willing at the end of the season I will call it a quit,” Bashiru Hayford told Hot FM.

Ashanti Gold this Sunday will be hosting MO Bajaia in the first leg of the CAF Champions League.
