Justin Gatlin said the Olympics have further fuelled his desire for success at the World Championships next year and Andre De Grasse thinks he can "have a good shot" at dethroning Usain Bolt in London.

Bolt proved to be in a class of his own in Rio yet again, winning all three sprint gold medals to complete an unprecedented triple triple.

Gatlin won just a solitary silver medal in the 100 metres, failing to qualify for the 200m final and enduring more frustration when the United States were disqualified from the 4x100m relay final on Friday after finishing third.

While Jamaican great Bolt said his Olympic career is over, 34-year-old Gatlin has not ruled out competing at Tokyo in four years and is already looking forward to coming up against Bolt at the World Championships in London in 2017.

"I never said this was my last Olympics. This Olympics has made me hungry for the World Championships next year," he said.

"I'm 34. You guys [the media] thought I couldn't run this fast at 34. At 35 I'm going to be even faster."

De Grasse won a silver and two bronze medals in his first Olympics and the 21-year-old also believes he can give Bolt a run for his money.

"I'm definitely going to work hard this year. If I can stay healthy this whole year, I think I have a good shot at him," said the Canadian.
