Jessica Ennis-Hill admits she is behind schedule in her preparation for the Olympic Games.

The 30-year-old has been struggling with an Achilles injury and withdrew from next week's meeting in Gotzis to focus on training.

Ennis-Hill won gold in the Heptathlon at London 2012 and acknowledged she has a lot of work to do if she is to successfully defend her title in Rio.

"I've had the Achilles injury and I'll have niggles now and then, but I'm an older athlete now and that's the reality of it," she told Sky Sports.

"Right now, I'm not injured. I'm back in full training and over the next few weeks we will ramp it up.

"I'm a bit behind schedule and I'm disappointed to be missing Gotzis, but if I want to be at my best in August for the Olympics, I have to miss it and keep preparing.

"It's about getting it right for two days in August. My focus is Rio and nothing else."

Ennis-Hill suggested she could remain in competition after the Games in order to compete at the World Championships in London next year.

"I have thought about it a few times now," she added. "A lot depends on how I feel after Rio, my body and whether I'll be motivated, but I definitely wouldn't be considering it if the World Championships weren't in London."
