The two-time defending Games 100-metre champion withdrew with an "unspecified injury", according to the team.

Bolt is widely expected to make it three straight gold medals in the event in Rio de Janeiro, but his latest injury is a blow to his chances.

The 29-year-old had won his semi-final at the trials in a time of 10.04 seconds.
