Portuguese forward signs new five-year Real Madrid deal

The 31-year-old's current deal ends in June 2018 but the Portuguese forward will sign a new contract on Monday that will end when he is 36.

It has been reported that Ronaldo's weekly wage will remain at around £365,000.

He has scored 371 goals since joining from Manchester United in 2009.

The Portuguese has helped Real win the Champions League twice and one La Liga title since moving to Spain's capital seven years ago.

No details of Ronaldo’s contract were released but the club said the “official event” for the renewal would take place on Monday.

“The official event for the renewal of Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract will take place tomorrow, Monday 7 November at 1:30pm in the presidential box at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium,” said Real in a statement. “The Portuguese forward will extend his contract until 30 June 2021 at the event attended by club president Florentino Pérez and the player himself.”

He is the latest Real player to commit his future to the club in recent weeks, following in the footsteps of Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez.

Madrid have been looking to tie down their leading players as they also fight a FIFA transfer ban for breaching rules governing the transfer and registration of players aged under 18.

The club, along with city rivals Atletico, are currently banned from registering any new players in the next two transfer windows - until January 2018 - but have appealed against the ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)
