Kotoko vs AshGold in numbers

The Miners will be facing their bitterest regional rivals for the 59th time in the Ghanaian topflight league

Kotoko have enjoyed majority of victories in this clash, having won 25, as against 14 by Asahnti Gold and 19 have ended in draws.

The first ever tie between them happened on 1st November, 1985 in Obuasi and that game ended in a goalless draw. It was Ashanti Gold's first ever fixture in the Ghanaian topflight league.

-The Miners have won 13, drawn 10 and lost 6 of their 29 home league games against Kotoko.

Kotoko have failed to win in their last four outings to Obuasi in all competitions against Ashgold (L5, D1).

The only meeting outside the Premier league in their last 6 clashes at Obuasi was the Miners' 1-0 win over the Porcupine Warriors in the GHALCA top-4 in 2015.

Last season Ashanti Gold defeated Kotoko 5-3 in their penultimate league fixture in Obuasi to help them escape relegation.

AshGold had to wait until February 1995 to earn their first league victory over the Porcupine Warriors. Kofi Deblah was the one goal hero for the Obuasi lads.

Ashanti Gold have four league titles, while the visitors have 23 trophies in the Ghanaian topflight league since its inception in the 1956-57 season.

Current form

AshGold are fourth on the league log, with four points, whereas Asante Kotoko are second on the league ladder with seven points and are yet to lose in three league games thus far.

The marksman of Ashanti Gold is Hans Kwofie former Medeama attacker, with three goals-one of the two players with most goals in league and the only player to register a hat-trick so far while Kotoko's dangerman is former AshGold striker, Yakubu Mohammed with two goals.
