Shanghai SIPG forward plays in Champions League win

Shanghai SIPG forward and Ghana international Asamoah Gyan was in action for his Chinese side in their AFC Champions League game on Tuesday.

Shanghai SIPG hosted Thai Premier League team Maungthong United FC at the Shanghai Stadium in Shanghai for the playoff game for the 2016 AFC Champions League qualifiers.

The Black Stars captain was named in the starting line-up of the game by manager Sven Goran Eriksson as his Shanghai SIPG side won by three goals without reply.

China international Wu Lei opened the scoring for Gyan’s team to go into the first half interval leading by a goal to nil. Dario Leonardo doubled the lead for his Shanghai SIPG side before Wu Lei completed a brace to end the game at 3-0.

Asamoah Gyan who missed a lot of goal scoring opportunities in the game against Maungthong United FC was replaced in the 90th minute by Hu Jinghang.
