The Black Cats were reported to have made an initial transfer offer for the Ghana Black Stars vice-captain which was rejected by Welsh club Swansea City. Sam Allardyce and his Sunderland side were preparing another improved offer of £10 million plus Fabio Borini but have come to realization that Swansea City are not willing to let go of their top scorer.
Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce said:
“Have we given up[on Andre Ayew]? Yes.
“I can’t see Swansea selling Andre Ayew. I never really thought they would to be honest, and we haven’t put a bid in. It was a bit more speculation about whether Swansea would let him go.”
Andre Ayew, 26 joined Premier League side Swansea City from French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille at the beginning of the season.
The Ghanaian player who scored and won a penalty for his side in Swansea City’s win against Everton last Sunday has so far bagged 8 goals in 22 Premier League outings.
