Sunderland abandon transfer chase for Ghanaian star

Sunder manager Sam Allardyce confirms his Premier League club have given up on Black Stars vice-captain Andre Ayew

English Premier League team Sunderland have given up on signing Ghanaian player Andre Ayew after Sam Allardyce confirmed the deal was off.

The Black Cats were reported to have made an initial transfer offer for the Ghana Black Stars vice-captain which was rejected by Welsh club Swansea City. Sam Allardyce and his Sunderland side were preparing another improved offer of £10 million plus Fabio Borini but have come to realization that Swansea City are not willing to let go of their top scorer.

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce said:

“Have we given up[on Andre Ayew]? Yes.

“I can’t see Swansea selling Andre Ayew. I never really thought they would to be honest, and we haven’t put a bid in. It was a bit more speculation about whether Swansea would let him go.”

Andre Ayew, 26 joined Premier League side Swansea City from French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille at the beginning of the season.
