It is a routine at West Ham United that their record signings struggle to make an instant impact due to injuries.

Record signings by West Ham United over the past decade have struggled with fitness in their debut season, namely Ashton in 2006, Graig Ballamy in 2007, Savio in 2009, Jarvis in 2012, Andy Carroll in 2013 and Andre Ayew in 2016.
