Andre Ayew: Black Stars will play 'ugly' and win

Black Stars deputy skipper Andre Ayew has responded to the criticisms against their second half performance in the ongoing AFCON

The Black Stars qualified for the quarter finals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, after beating Uganda and Mali in their first and second games respectively, but they have been criticised for allowing their opponents to dominate in the second half.

However, Andre Ayew who scored Ghana's lone goal against Uganda in their group D opener believes that it is better the team grind out the results, even after a poor show than dominate and lose.

“If we play like this and it will bring us the cup, I will do it through the entire tournament," Ayew said, as reported by Citi FM.

"But then, we need to play better. It is true that we can do better and we are going to improve, but we know what we are doing.

"When we do not have the ball on the field, we know what we are about.

"We have a good team and a goalkeeper who made two great saves [against Mali], and we need to continue working.

"It is very true that we need to play better in the second half of games.”
