Black Stars goalkeeper will not need surgery for his injury

Black Stars goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey will not need surgery after tearing a ligament in his finger

The Ghanaian tore a ligament in his finger and had to be replaced in the win for his Portland Timbers team. Kwarasey will however not need a surgery on his finger but will wear a splint as he looks to get back to full fitness.

Portland Timbers coach Caleb Porter speaking on Adam Kwarasey’s injury said:

“Adams Kwarasey tore a ligament in his finger after getting it caught in the turf at Providence Park while picking up the ball after a shot from San Jose.

“Though he will not need surgery, he must wear a splint on his injured finger.”

The manager expressed his dislike for the injury to the Black Stars goalkeeper but also talked of his trust in Adam Kwarasey’s replacement, Jake Gleeson saying:

"You never like injuries, but we feel like we have a really capable goalkeeper in Jake Gleeson.

“Obviously, he played in the playoffs last year in a pressure game versus Vancouver and came into this game (against San Jose) and we didn’t miss a beat."

Portland Timbers play New England Revolution away from home in their next Major League Soccer game.
