Fenerbahce eye transfer move for Chelsea defender

Chelsea defender Abdul Baba Rahman has received transfer interest from Turkish club Fenerbahce

The player transferred to the English Premier League champions from German Bundesliga team Augsburg last summer.

The former Kotoko player started his season under former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho. Baba Rahman had limited chances under the Portuguese coach who said the defender was not ready for the English Premier League.

Under Guus Hiddink who took over after Jose Mourinho was sacked in December, Black Stars defender Abdul Baba Rahman has had more playing minutes due to injuries to Kurt Zouma, Gary Cahill and club captain John Terry.

Baba Rahman has still had his troubles under Hiddink notably the Premier League game against Southampton where his poor pass led to a goal against his Chelsea team. Guus Hiddink took him off after the first half break in the game but Baba Rahman gradually worked his way back into the starting line-up of the Premier League champions.

Fenerbahce coach Vitor Pereira wants to replace Caner Erkin who has been reported to leave the Turkish club with Chelsea defender Abdul Baba Rahman.

Abdul Baba Rahman replaced Filipe Luis who spent just one season at the west London club before returning to Atletico Madrid in Spain.

Rahman would however relish a chance under new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte who will take charge of the club next season.
